You should be able to sign up for a certain "rating" and only be able to view questions and answers within your rating. As an adult, I could sign up for G-R, rated g through r like the movie rating system. My daughter could sign up for up to PG-13 and only see questions that are up to PG-13.
People could rate their own questions answers to make them invisible to children if they chose and if someone made their answer visible to children and other users disagreed, in addition to a thumbs up or thumbs down, they could up the rating. If two people vote to change the rating...it gets changed automatically.

They should take the thumbs down option. It hurts sometimes when its your opinion and some people just click thumbs down on every answer. If its good they should click thumbs up and thats it.
