1) If they had not broken this country's law, they wouldn't be in prison.
2) They could have chosen something else off the menu.
To give foreign prisoners £2m of OUR money would be a travesty....
If they are in our country stick to our rules, they come here, try to blow our innocent men ,women and children up, then claim they are badly done by as they don't like the prison menu!!!..If you don't like it , stay away or don't break our laws.They should have to eat cold porridge every day, that would fit in with their religious needs.
People like that really pee me off.

I agree with the first three answers but what are the chances that the PC liberals of this country will actually award them damages?
A bullet (pork free, of course) would have been a better option.

Marilyn...yes, why don't we deport the bastar*s??..they'd be back in a few weeks as our immigration policy is as effective as a chocolate fireguard.

If they are such pious men, then what are they doing in prison? As I understand it, they could opt for vegetarian food while inside. The utensils in which food is prepared are polluted from their point of view, but that is something which can't be avoided.
Interestingly, I have heard that during the Second World War the Chief Rabbi dispensed Jews serving in the forces from having to comply with dietary laws and told them just to eat what was provided and stop worrying about it. Isn't that the sensible approach? If Muslim prisoners see themselves as being at war with the rest of us, then they could adopt a similar policy, one might think.
I'\ve got a horrible feeling that the wishy washy liberals in charge of us will cave in. Provided, of course, that the prisoners can establish that this incident took place, as from what I've read it was simply a question of a mix up over menu cards. And every time this happens we forfeit the little begruding respect which we might merit from these people, who see us as weak and compliant.

I agree witht the first part of your statement, it's ridiculous that anyone who lives in the U.K. doesn't abide by the U.K. laws. When I worked in the Middle East I had to abide by their laws, Ramadan, no Christmas holidays etc. that was fine because it was my choice to work there, unfortunately the U.K. doesn't see things in the same light and agree that different cultures can celebrate and live their lives according to their culture. That's fine if it's reciprocal but it's not. If you are in jail you have to live by the prison regulations - end of story.
I don't agree with the second part of your question, some Muslims who are in jail for theft, benefit fraud etc. are wrong - same as any other religion - but it doesn't make them murderers, terrorists etc. It isn't only Muslims who break the U.K. laws.
I lived and worked with Muslims, and I had a great time, they are very respectful of women, enjoy life, are tolerant of others, peoples religions and views, and above all are generous, caring people. You are talking about people who break the law and fanatics, these people exist in every nationality and walk of life. I think we all need to be more discerning.

whilst they could have been more sensitive not everyone knows about muslims not eating ham/pork, what about jewish prisoners cos they cant eat it either but whatever they are making a moutain out of a molehill they can just refuse it as every other muslim does when offered it somewhere like a restaurant. ramadan or not makes no difference.

That really sucks!
I`m not surprised these criminals are up to take this matter to courts. They can sue whomever they want for whatever reason they find fit.
What I really surprises is if UK takes the bill.
What would these mfs. do with that amount?

If it were up to me, and their crime were that serious, i would sentence them to life on a working pig farm. See how much of a martyr they felt like then.
