No,I don't believe it will 'break' but I think doing this for a long period of time can cause a laptop to overheat which isn't so good.

Once a laptop battery is fully charged, and is still plugged in, the unit continues running off power from the wall. The battery is only used when not plugged in. So no, charging a laptop for all hours of the night will not damage it.

No. When it's done charging, your laptop just runs off the AC adapter instead of your battery.

no. but a combo of old and that could cause it to overheat. most even have power settings for constant plug in. if you are too worried, most laptops allow you to take the battery out and leave it plugged in.

Not at all. Laptops will have circuit protection to keep them from overcharging as well as overdischarging the lithium battery.

This is necessary because lithium batteries can be very unstable when overcharged and overdischarged.

Not if it is well designed. Now a power surge is a different thing. Keeping it plugged in all the time gives more time for a power surge to hurt it.

No, It shouldn't. Especially if it is a newer lap top. They have built in power regulation devices that prevent that from happening.

If you got one of the dells from a couple years ago your battery might explode. lol j/k :)
