Phylum---Arthropoda---Arthropods
Class---Insecta--Insects
Order--Trichoptera---Caddisflies
My book lists 17 families of caddisflies---one is--Limnephilidae--Northern Caddisflies
Of the 200 species in this family, one is Philocasia demita Ross

This species occurs in Oregon and lives in leaf litter. Most of the Limnephilidae live in streams or ponds as larvae and require nearly one year to develop They live about a month as adults. Some caddisflies are plant eaters and some are predaceous. The chief biological importance of this order is that the larvae are an important part of the food of many fish and other aquatic animals.

Fly fishermen use the design of the caddisfly to make their lures.
