I LOVE horror books and movies, so Stephen King is one of my all-time favorites! There are a few that I like just for nostalgic reasons, but didn't add them to the list. They are Creepshow, Cat's Eye & Mazimum Overdrive. One of my friends is one of the kids on the baseball field in Maximum Overdrive! Haha! I almost forgot, his dad is the baseball coach. That movie was made in Wilmington, NC where i used to live. Cat's Eye was made there too.

I think they make them better when they're done as a mini series. Most likely because they have more time to put in more details. If I tried to compile a list of my favorites it would be very long. I will tell you the ones I don't think were done as well as they could have been.

IT
The Langoliers
The Running Man
Salem's Lot
Maximum Overdrive
The Lawnmower Man
The Dark Half

I absolutely loved The Night Flier, The Stand, Stand by Me, Dolores Claiborne, Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and Misery.

Stand By Me - doesn't even SEEM like Stephen King
The Stand - still just spooks me... the Biblical links
Dreamcatcher - so well done
Misery - creeps me out SO much

I now pray that a good director will attack the "Dark Tower" series al a "Lord of the Rings" or "Harry Potter".

The movies I've seen from his works ALL seem to stick SO well to the lines of the books or story... unlike other books-to-movies where the film is butchered by the screenwriters.

I haven't seen 1408 yet, heck the book scared me enough! I guess my favorite one has to be Lean on Me. I know its mainstream but I also liked Sleep Walkers. I think the most "true to the book" was Thinner. I am really waiting for The Gunslinger but..I think they would butcher it really bad and anyway, the people in my mind will always be better! lol :)_

Haven't seen a whole lot of the movies, but Misery was pretty darn freaky (in a good way)
