I have my period and I was removing a tampon. I felt something else fall out, as well. It didn't look right......pieces of plastic, I think. Any chances that I lost my IUD. I have had it for 18 months. This is a non-hormonal IUD.

Its not likely that it just "fell out", especially if you have had it for 18 months. I have Mirena. Mirena has a website. Does yours? If so I would visit it! I would see you OBGYN Monday~!! Maybe it was part of the tampon, maybe a defective one!!!

One way to check is to reach for the little piece of "plastic" that stick out through the uterus into your vagina. If that is still there, the IUD probably is too. But some could have come off. I recommend a trip to the doctor. next time, look to see what is happening.

Never heard of one falling out unless they never got it in right. You are going to need a doctor appt. anyway to make sure you dont get pregnant and they will be able to tell you. I could always feel the filament hanging down. Have you checked that? Or couldnt you feel it.
