'Cos it is a negative word and so many people these days tend to be negative too! My dear Mum used to say 'if you think you can then you can' or 'there's no such word as can't'! Bless her - she was right! The moral - stay positive!!!!

It's a contraction (just like "it's") of two words, and perfectly all right to use.

it isn't can't that isn't a word, it's ain't. but ain't is a word because it is now in the dictionary.

Can't is a word. Means cannot. It's "cain't" that is slang. he he. As in I cain't figure out how you ad an "s" on can't.
