Lucia, of course. ;) Offhand, I can't think of a single other name that would be said LOO-sha, but Lucia isn't really that difficult. And I agree with you ... no reason to use a less-attractive, assumably phonetic spelling just to try to ensure the correct pronunciation of an actual name. After all, those are just as likely to get LUH-sha (like luscious) or LOW-sha or some other ridiculous pronunciation. LOL
At least the only foreseeable problem with the proper Lucia spelling would be equally accepted pronunciations, such as loo-SEE-a or loo-CHEE-ah. But the fact that you prefer LOO-sha doesn't make them improper, so a simple correction doesn't seem all that difficult or problematic. It's likely someone "mispronouncing" it would be equally familiar with your pronunciation of choice, and simply went with the one they deemed most likely. Not a big deal really. Saying, "Actually, it's LOO-sha," just once should do the trick. ;)
Lovely name, by the way.
Edited to add this link: http://www.behindthename.com/name/lucia I didn't include it originally, since I assumed most were aware of all three equally-correct pronunciations of Lucia, but after reading through some of the replies, I realize I may have been mistaken. LOL So there you go. ;)

A word to the wise. Lucia is from Spain or Italy. Be careful. That would lend it to be pronounced as Loo-chia.
Lusha might be an idea. But then the child would have to contend with Lush growing up.
Look up the spellings for variables here:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Loosha
Use the thesaurus.
Loucia is pretty and might be an alternative.
Good luck.

Lucia is the better way. It looks less awkward.
I would know how to pronounce it, but some people may have a hard time. I think that out of all the ways to spell that name, Lucia is the best and looks like it flows more but at the same time is easiest to recognize. :]
hope this helps!

I would think that many people would pronounce Lucia as "Loo-chi-ah." However, it is a beautiful spelling, and you could just inform people that the name is pronounced a certian way.
Here's an odd-ball idea: Call your local University and ask to speak with a Linguistics professor. Tell her how you want the name to sound, and that you do not like the spellings of it that you mentioned. I'll bet the professor could come up with an alternate spelling. I REALLY like Lucia, but I think that phonetically, it would not work out for the pronounciation you desire. Call a linguisitcs prof and ask. I could be completely wrong.
Good luck, the sound of the name is beautiful!

I think the name is spelled "Lucia", but I would pronounce that as Lou-See-A. I don't really like the spellings Lusha or Lousha, either. Lutia, Luscia, Luschia, any of those might work.

Spell it Lucia, and be prepared to defend your prononciation. Lou-chee-ah is the Italian version, and much in favor these days.
But honestly, Lusha and Lousha look pretty strange. Stick with Lucia, and live with the ambiguity - your way isn't wrong, there's just more than one way.

If you are Italian it would be pronounced Loo-Chee-Ahh (Lucia).
If you are Spanish or Latin American, you'd pronounce it Loo-See-Ah (Lucia).
I'd go with Lucia not Lusha and definitely not Lousha. Good Luck!
