My computer freezes a lot, and i know its not a software problem, i reformatted and installed OS.... i notice at start up, the bios tells the temp, and after crashing, its often at high temps like 177 F... what should I do to stop it from over heating? It tends to crash more when its doing more complex things, like running a game or compressing video...

based on the temps, it sounds like you are overclocking the system. However, there are alot of different factors that could also be causing this. Unfortunately, you don't give specifics.

1. Turn off all overclocking.
2. Cooling, make sure your case fans are running as well as the HS/Fan for the processor.

As i said, with out more details of your system its hard to diagnose the problem.

evidently you have a heatsink not seated properly and or a fan problem, because your cpu shouldnt be overheating to that degree.read the links below.also hold down Ctrl,Alt,Delete open up task manager and see if anything is always hogging up alot of the cpu resources,if you notice anything, goole it and find out more about it.Check the power supply is providing steady state power to your motherboard if it isn't it could cause overheating of the CPU. You could also try reseating your CPU with new thermal compound.

First check and see if the cpu fan is running, then I would remove the fan and check to see if there is a lot of dust buildup on the heat sink

It might be because your computer is too dusty inside. Try removing the dust and make sure that the fans work.
