My laptop supports 200-pin SODIMM, DDR PC2700 memory. My friend has offered me PC5300. Will this work?

No, you need DDR and what they offering is DDR2, different technology and fittings.

everything over PC5000 is DDR2 and your laptop only supports DDR so the answer is NO.

As long as it has 200 pins. But it wont work to its full potential.
