What is so wrong about being popular to little kids? I'm thirteen and I only got to know MCR since the Black Parade coz duh, what did I know about music at the age of 10, barely even listen to anything, mainly coz my mom doesn't let me listen to music. But I don't think they'd sold out, for goodness sake what is so wrong about growing up and having a different view on everything? A band has got to grow, change. Life without change is boring. I mean, if all of MCR's songs were exactly the same, and there weren't any haters, would they be in the high position they are in right now? Is it so wrong to let more people enjoy the same type of music? Do you really have to look at people's ages and think "Ooh that girl doesn't deserve to like the band, they probably don't even know what they're singing about." Well teenagers these days are smarter than all you people above who are being mean think. And My Chemical Romance has always said that we couldn't judge people by the ages or race or sex or whatever, what is up with THIS! And I don't only like the Black Parade, I like all their songs and it's not simply coz of the tune, I really appreciate their saying in each and every lyric. I only started to ever talk to anyone in school and having friends to talk to since I'd known MCR existed...

I love all MCR music but yes the black parade album has been quite a sellout. But i still love them whatever.
Yeah i agree three cheers for sweet revenge was their best album!
Here is wikepedias point of view:
My Chemical Romance was among the first bands to achieve prominence by offering free downloads through PureVolume and the social networking site MySpace, where MCR gathered its first few thousand fans. The band has clearly grown well beyond those initial numbers, expanding their fan base beyond the typical fans of their musical style and direction, partially helped by the more mainstream sound of their 2004 album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. MCR are sometimes maligned by the "grassroots" fans, for the expanded fan base, after the release of Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. Due to the increased amount of new fans, some of the old fanbase considers the band a "sellout" and the new MCR fans "posers". The fans are particularly vocal on online forums.
Numerous artists in other bands have criticised the band openly in the media, amongst them is Marilyn Manson; he wrote the song "Mutilation is the Most Sincere Form of Flattery" as an attack on the band for his Eat Me, Drink Me release. Stating in an interview that "I'm embarrassed to be me because these people are doing a really sad, pitiful, shallow version of what I've done". In response to this, Gerard Way claimed nothing Manson could say would bring the band down.
Gerard Way struck out against fans and bands that class My Chemical Romance as "Emo", saying that; “I think emo is ******* garbage, it's bullshit. I think there's bands that unfortunately we get lumped in with that are considered emo and by default that starts to make us emo.” and, "I think emo's a pile of ****.” This caused much outcry from fans and critics alike.

I don't think they've sold out as such, more got into the mainstream. If you compare Bullets [their best album, imo.] to The Black Parade, they've definitely changed their sound in a way, but what decent musical act haven't? Gerard, on the other hand, seems a lot more different. He dosen't seem to smile as much, and the live shows have definitely lost a lot of their energy and charm. When he gives interviews, he dosen't seem to connect so much with the interviewer like before. He's also gotten a lot more impulsive, if you know what I mean because you should. I still think he is an amazing person and whatnot, but something about him is 'not there.' Anyone who considers the band sell outs simply because of their extended fanbase, and look down on 12 year old fans and 'poseurs', need to remember how much MCR hates elitism. I love them, I really do, but some things are not the same.

Well, to start, I LOVE My Chemical Romance. I can't get enough of them. I like Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge and The Black Parade equally. But, of course, a band will change- I mean, they can't just re-write the same songs and make the same exact album- that would be boring! So, yes they have changed, but it's not a bad change.

I own Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and The Black Parade and I think The Black Parade is better its got Dead!,Famous Last Wors,Teenagers,House of Wolves,Welcome to the Black Parade, and This Is How I Disappear but Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge only has The Ghost of You,Helena, and I'm Not Okay but to answer your
question yes they did sell out (to Guitar Hero specifically) but back in the day K.I.S.S. sold out big time and Metallica changed their sound every other album and I think a true fan (like me) will stick with MCR til' the end.

No way are My Chem sellouts! Do you know why The Black Parade is all "mainstream"? Because it effin rocks that's why!!!!!!!!! It is their greatest album, so epic. And I don't get why everyone keeps saying that 3 Cheers is the best....don't get me wrong it's my second favorite, but it doesn't compare to the greatness of The Black Parade. People like their music. They're popular. They deserve it because they're the best. You can't get all mad at them because they're "mainstream" and you wanted to be the only one that knows about them. I just don't get why people care if they're the most popular band in the world or if they only have 5 fans, we all know that they're great and that's what matters.

Personally, I think "Bullets" is the best album, but that's just me.
They really have gone a little mainstream/sellout-ey, and it's kinda freaking me out. However, after touring for "The Black Parade" is over, they're starting on a new album that should let them slip back into tha shadows from the pop/emo/not-quite-rock world and return to the band we all know and love. I think Gerard said in an interview that they weren't planning on doing something like that ever again, so soon all the preps and hopeless souls will have forgotten that they were ever in the presence of a miracle like My Chemical Romance.
Edit- I forgot to mention that the black parade was a marvelous album. MCR has really developed their playing styles and I LOVE it. It isn't the album I hate, it's the response to it from all the idiots who say "Well, I like Welcome to the Black Parade, but everything else is emo." THAT'S what I hate.

I think they've always been great since 'I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Bullets'.
After that, 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge' and 'The Black Parade' are both good. I loved MCR from the very beginning. What I think is, they are the best band on Earth and they rock!!!!!!!!!
MCR FOREVER!!!!!!

I agree that Revenge has been their best CD yet. But I love all their music, and BP is my second favorite (although Bullets is still AMAZING!)
But you cant expect them to turn out the same thing on each record. Then they'd be like every other band, that fades away.
The reinvent themselves, while still sticking to their morals, and style.
Thats what I love about them.
Some fans since Bullets say they sold out when with Revenge, Revenge fans say they were sellouts wtih BP...now BP fans are going to say they sold out because of their new album (cant wait till '09!!)
But I cant get mad at them for gaining popularity...They cant help rocking xD. Real fans are happy for their success.
They cant help the fangirls either, BUT, they dont encourage the tweenie-boppers, which sets them apart from MANY other bands!
