This is my first pregnancy and I just had a dr appointment he measured my stomach and it was 27 cm from the bottom to the top.I am 25 weeks a long due on Febuary 10th.I was wondering if thats good or is that big? Before I got pregnant I was 128 lbs, 5'2.My weight now is 144 lbs.All my test come back perfect and he says all is going how its sopose too.But I got family and friends saying that they think the dr has the due date wrong cause my last ultrasound (20 weeks) that the baby looks pretty much fully growen......Any good webs sites that I might be able to find out info on these measurments and what it means? Thanks

My doctor told me that it is normal for a woman to measure either +2cm from the weeks she's at, -2cm from the weeks she's at or the same number of weeks she's at. I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant and only measuring 33cm or so, but they've done an U/S and everything is normal. The babys measurements are right on, the baby is healthy... The doctor says that I could be measuring so small because of the way I am carrying the baby. Some people have stronger ab muscles so they measure less, some people have weaker ab muscles so the uterus pushes out more and the people measure bigger... etc. Regardless +2cm is normal in every sense. This is why you can give birth anywhere from 2 weeks before your due date to 2 weeks after your due date and it be considered completely normal.

Your uterus should measure 1 cm for every week you are along. So if you are 25 weeks along you should measure 25 cm. Now take into consideration the fact that the doctor really only gave you an 'EDD'-estimated due date. Which means that you can have that baby 2 weeks before that due date or up to 2 weeks after.
It sounds to me like you may have miscalculated your last menstrual period and are 27 weeks along, not 25.
Good Luck!

Go to babycenter.com. At 20 weeks the baby is fully formed but not fully grown. Your doctor can be off by a few weeks but not usually a few months. Ask your doctor these questions? I don't remember exactly how many cm my stomach measured when I was pregnant with my 1st. I'm 14 weeks now, and haven't been measured yet.

It is fine to measure within two weeks either way. No, it is not big, in fact, it is average. The average person measures within 2 weeks, so you would measure between 23 and 27 weeks.
Don't worry about it, trust me! I just went through some issues regarding measurement. I am 39 weeks and was measuring 35 1/2 weeks, it was due to the head being engaged. So, later into your pregnancy you may measure smaller, because they only measure from the top of your pelvic bone up.

well i'm 35 weeks, i last saw the midwife nearly 2 weeks ago and i was measuring 38cm. i had a growth scan at 31 weeks and a bonding scan at 29 weeks (done privately). at the bonding scan she commented on how big my baby was n how chubby she was. at the growth scan however (nhs) they stated that the liquor volume was normal regardless of how big the baby is so they have decided not to induce me (although the doc i saw looked like she didnt know what she was doing) now granted the liquor volume may be normal, the babys stomache and head circumfrance were measuring above average. so all these things that show my baby is big dont actually mean anything to the doctors they say everthing is normal and they are not concerned. i believe that measurements can go 2cm either way and as for scans they can go 2lb either way butr are measured by the liquor volume and the head cicumfrance and stomache. in order for them to be concerned you have to be measurin major big, have little liquor volume and your babys head circumfrance and stomache have to be above the 90th percentile. if you are concerned about the size of this baby you need to push at the docs/midwifes to keep an eye on things. this is what i am doin as i am still majorlyt concerned as my first was 10lb 12oz and other than his weight everything about him was average and i keep telling the docs this but they dont listen, luckily my midwife does as she was my midwife for my first. anyway good luck and make sure you get what u want out of this pregnancy, u dont want to be feeling worried stressed or scared for the baby when u go to labour.
