Depending on your country, state amd city the type of event you have locally will vary in the activities, names and times of the year.
Here in north Florida it is time for the County Fair. We only attend when it is to take the grandchildren.
I don't enjoy the crowds, rides or spending too much money for too little safe fun.

we have a fair here where I live every Sept. It is the oldest in the country I have heard. I love all fair food, the horse pulls, the flower shows and vegetable shows, cooking shows, all the animals we go almost every yr. It goes for a week, there are shows with singers and they used to be pretty famous, but not in the last 5 yrs or so. Now you pay for parking besides a huge amount to get in,and to buy any food costs a fortune, they have all kinds of rides, and games to play and contests, but you can't get out of there without spending at least 50.00 per person, now even some of the entertainment you have to pay for.

We have always done that and so enjoyed it till we moved to a big city Phoenix, AZ) last year. Went to the fair and are still in absolute shock. Too many ppl, most were rude. Most were drunk and loud and obnoxious. Swaring was all over the place, just ppl acting like punks. It was scarrey really, DID NOT feel safe, it was like mostly thugs, and you could only think about coming home. WE didnt stay long. Rides too long, and only had a few minutes in the ride once you got on, guys running them acted drunk. I am 61 yrs old, and two gay gals in the parking lot line waiting to go in , that were workers, hit on me to the point it was embarrasing, others saw it. It was awful. Plus so much of it was so new age, from psychic readings crystals, you name it. We looked for the typical home made food and plants , and homemade crafts, etc. NONE THERE.
No more things like that for families. LIke being in HOllywood, seeing the latest evil stuff happening.
We left there feeling so sad, and knew that was our last trip to that particular fair, Unless we move to a smaller town and can find a good old fashioned family fair, we arent going anymore. How sad. The only ones getting to enjoy the fair are the ones that are into rebellion against God and love wickedness You see ppl there with tarot cards, all of it, BUT not handmade crafts, or homemade food???? Says a lot about where America is in these last days, huh?
WE can only pray and wait for Jesus to come SOON>
And, dont let me forget to mention the prices of everything. OUT OF SIGHT. All we could smell was cigarette smoke, which I am allergic to and booze. HOW SAD> I remember the days when noone could bring alcohol into a fair, and it was so much better. PPL talked together, laughed together, enjoyed the food and rides and crafts, and vote on who won certain pries for the BESt in a particular category. Silly things for sale that were reasonable. NOT AT THIS FAIR>
IN the booths, professional jewelers for example sellng very expensive things. How many famlies have money to do that, let alone carry that kind of money to a fair? Supposed to a time for families to come together and have fun. BUt its not that way now in most big city fairs we have been to, but most of the small town ones are still pretty nice Oh how we miss that. You who are in small towns are blessed......

We go to the county fair every year. I like to go and see the animals and the 4-H exhibits. Those kids are so crafty! It's a fairly small county and the admission is free but it costs $2.00 for parking. I get a kick out of seeing those little kids petting the goats, cows, horses and pigs. I wanted to ride on the ponies too, but my husband said I was too old! No fair! We always get a bag of kettle corn and by the time we get home it's almost gone. Good times!

Yes, I love fairs and festivals. We had the county fair in Sept., I don't ride (motion sickness), but I love all the smells, sounds, food, entertainment, etc. We also go to little festivals they have throughout the area. I go back home to the county fair when I can, but didn't get to go this year. A fair is one of my favorite things-there's just a 'feeling' about it that I love.

Oh, yes. I always enter something in the county fair. And we always attend our cities festivals and other events. That's what's so good about a small town.

Our local fairs are more of the arts and crafts type with food vendors also and sometimes local music. We also Renaissance Fairs which I really love...I try to make most of them even though I too am not fond of crowds. But we take the kids [grands] and they enjoy it too.

This is the first year we have missed our Fall Fair. It was raining everyday and the kids like the midway so we stayed home. My favourite part is the handmade crafts. One year I got up the nerve to enter an afghan I crocheted and it won a blue second prize. It's a tradition I don't want to see disappear as it is part of our heritage.

Oh, I love the fairs! The FOOD, the rides, seeing all the farm animals, all kinds of flowers and produce, great crafts, car races and tractor pulls, good local bands....and did I mention the FOOD?! Fried dough, candied apples, home-made ice cream, Italian sausage and peppers, fried turkey legs...and so much more.

Love all the fairs and festivals...always have!

no, we didn`t have one this year for the first time since 83. it started out a good event but got a little worst each year. the last time i went it was nothing but face painting and funnel cakes. the arts council used to be involved but left years ago because of the people in charge who were cheating taxpayers out of thousands of dollars a year. they all got fired and some are up on criminal charges. to make a long story short there was no festival this year.
