Usually they make me wait 20 minutes. Why?? Yesterday, they told me to come back in 4 hours, and to come back the next day for the ointment! Why the heck does it take so long to put 3 pills in a bottle and slap a label on it? Does anyone know?

Thank you. I was having a painful ear infection, was feeling lousy and needed the antibiotic. I usually order my refills online.

There were only a couple of people ahead of me, and she said they had many prescriptions to fill. It just seems like 20 mins is a long time, but what do I know?

were there a lot of people there or a lot of prescriptions to be filled? did you ask if they had the ointment or were they going to have to order it in? was there sufficient amount of staff there or was it near/during a meal time? if you let them tell you when you can pick it up, they'll always give themselves the maximum amount of time they can get from you. most pharmacies are caught in a crunch because insurances will only pay a certain amount. so to keep their doors open, they have to employ fewer people and can't stock the most espensive of drugs. but in their defense..... nobody wo isn't feeling well ikes to wait for a prescription to be filled. the problem is that everybody wants it done right that minute so most pharmacies have some kind of waiting time. the best thing to do is to get the dr's office to call it in before you leave their office so that they have time to fill it prior to you getting there. we do it all the time. it only takes a few mins.

Because you are not the only person getting prescriptions filled. Quite often there are a number of people ahead of you who have either called in a refill, or have dropped off a presciption and have been told to wait. Also you may have to wait on an ointment as they may not stock it or have used the supply they had and must reorder from their supplier. They are not picking on you, we are all in the same boat. Besides I would want to make certain those "three pills are the right ones for me" and not rush the pharmacist

I have never had that problem. It usually takes my pharmacy like 5 - 10 minutes. Although, sometimes there are people in front of me so that makes a difference. If you are going to a large - chain pharmacy then I can understand why it would take so long to fill it. Because so many people go there and stuff. Also, sometimes they have to call in the drug and have somebody bring it over... because it isn't always there.

Hope this helped

You wait 20 minutes for a medication they have on hand. You wait 4 hours if they're really busy. You wait until tomorrow if they've got to order the med from the supplier.

It's frustrating, yes. Maybe you can switch to mail order prescriptions? That way, they come to you.

Take care.
