I've lived alone a lot of years. I have to make me happy, fed, clothed, a roof over my head. Another person in my life is a BONUS for sure. I love bonuses. lol

Yes I know many people that are quite happy...they do very cool things like volunteering at the hospital, visiting shut-ins, having hobbies with others that enjoy the same thing, swimming class, horseback riding with a group of friends. My Aunt has been alone and she said the way to handle it is to always have something to look forward to even if it is just going to the movies or the library. The happiest people are those that willingly share themselves with those that need them. Mmm

I think it might be ok for some people, but not all. I enjoy having my alone time, but I've become a hermit this past year, and it's really not a good thing. I've been alone for a while now and I'm starting to get that urge again to have someone in my life.

u can b happy and lonely at the same time. If a person is happy with their own self then they can b happy living alone which is not to say that they don't get lonely for company

It's possible, but I wouldn't really like it.I love being around people,so I'd get bored and lonely all alone.I don't depend on other people, but it's more fun doing things with other people. And since I hate bugs,I'd need a big, strong guy to get rid of all the bugs for me!!

A person could be happy and have a very full life with friends and family. No partner necessary if you are happy and content with yourself.

Yes, in many ways, but the best way to do it, i guess is to keep yourself busy all the time in doing something constructive, which has a goal and the results of which you ll be able to see, whether good or bad. Like dedicating your life to a cause or sport or a service or technology or research or anything.but there has to be this unceasable dedication in doing that, so that you ll always have something to look forward to in your life, and never have that empty mind in which thoghts crawl in and make you dismal and provoke you to post a question like this one.
:)

Ones happiness, is not dependent on another. Happiness comes from within. However, it certainly is nice to have someone in your life you love, and loves you. Also, you can be happy, and lonely at the same time.

I could be happy with or without someone.
There are always times when you wish you had a special someone to share certain events in your life with. But, you learn to adjust, I guess.
I guess i'll just buy one rocking chair(when i'm old)
instead of two!
