Nope - I'm wrong. It was a Saturday. This is correct.
(see second source below - a 1950 calendar)

Saturday.

Source: MS/Excel. Type in the date on one cell (ex. A1) like 5/13/1950. On cell B1 type in the formula =WEEKDAY(A1,2)
The result = 6 (saturday). This works for any dates from 1900 onwards.
