Need help with Algebra 2....?

Am I right for the followings?

1) The area of a triangle is 384 square feet. If its base is 8 feet longer than its altitude, find the length of the base and the altitude.

For this one I got: Length= 29, Altitude= 21.

2) Find two consecutive even integers, whose product is 1224.

For this one I got: x = 34 and 36, -34 and -36.

3) One number is 9 less than the other. Find the two numbers if their product is 736.

For this one I got: x = 23, -32

4) 3x - 6 = 0

For this one I got: x = 3, 2

5) | 3x - 6 | = 0

For this one I got: x = 2, -2

6) | 3x - 6 | > 0

For this one I got: x > 2 or x < -2

1) your first answer is wrong, here is the solution

(x+8)(x) = 384
x^2 + 8x - 384 = 0

solve by quadratic eq.

x = (-8 +- sqrt(64 + 1536))/2
x = (-8 +- 40)/2
x = -24 or x = 16

since length cannot be negative so x = 16

base = 24 and altitude = 16

2) you are correct

3) (x)(x-9) = 736
x^2 -9x -736 = 0
x^2 - 32x + 23x -736 = 0
x(x-32) + 23(x-32) = 0
x = 32 or x = -23

the two numbers are 32 and 23 OR -23 and -32

4) 3x = 6
x = 6/3
x = 2

5) x = 2 ONLY

6) for any value of x except for x = 2 (because at x = 2 the left hand side becomes equal to zero and the inequality fails, and for anyother value of x, the inequality is true)

Trust me, all my answers are correct

1) 29*21/2 = 304.5. You are wrong. Sould be 32*24

2/ Correct

3) Should be 23 and 32

4) x =2 is only answer

5) x = 2 is only answer

6) x > 2 is only answer

The only one I see a problem with is #4, 3 is not an answer. The only answer is 2. the rest of your work is correct.
