No, we don't think they are spoil sports at all. If you had been threatened because you didn't give money, had your car and windows egged, damage done to your garden, stuff nicked out of your garden like potted plants/ornaments and such like then you would not feel like joining in on the whole Halloween "fun". If people do not want to participate and do not have a pumpkin or similar in their window or near their front door then they should be left alone. Some people in our town put notices up saying they don't want trick n treaters at their door and that should be respected. We dread this time of year. It's ok for the little kids but when you've got older teens or sometimes even older (it's hard to tell) people at your front door demanding money and threatening you if you don't give them any it's a bit difficult reporting it to the police...." yes, officer, the description is.....adult height, don't know if they were male or female and wearing a Scream mask and long black cloak...." not much chance of them being caught really is there?

No I don't. I think there could be any number of reasons they don't want to keep getting up to answer the door.
Religious people will not want to participate in halloween. People who have a baby will find it disturbing to have the door knocked all the time, particularly if the baby's sleeping.
People who are unwell, or caring for someone unwell, or old.
People who like to relax in the evening after a stressful day. People who don't like kids.
People (this one's me) who have no money after paying bills and feel angered by kids of richer parents asking me for money or sweets, when I can barely afford to feed my own child.
We have free choice, whether to parcicpate or not. If people choose not to, respect them as you would like to respect you.
I hate people who don't respect other's choices.
Also, do you know how annoying it to have your door continunously knocked? Your entire evening is spent answering it, you can't do anything else. And do you realise when you ask strangers for sweets you are begging??

100% agreed with Acai.
One house that doesn't give you candy won't kill you.
Just move on to another house.
I personally give candy every year.
I decorate but i always leave to my aunts house to trick or treat in her neighborhood so i leave a big bowl of candy for the young kids, but year after year people abuse and just take it all, so this year i didn't decorate and I'm not leaving out any candy.

Well, I guess if you don't believe in that sort of thing, it's up to you. You shouldn't have to be forced to participate. At least they can put up a sign and not just ignore the kids coming up to their door...

I would think they're dumb. Probably get their windows soaped and the car sprayed with shaving cream.
