Ooh, I love Eminem questions. Easy 10 points indeed.
Eminem's mom was 15 when she had him so his father couldn't deal with the stress of being young and having a kid so he left after 6 months and never went back.
"My family has never been there for me. They expect things because we're blood."
Eminem and his mom kept moving back and forth because his mom never had a job. He had to take a stint as a short-order cook when he was a teen to support his family. They were constantly getting kicked out of houses. Six months was the longest time they ever spent in one house. So the part where he raps "going through public housing systems", that's true. Which means yeah they were poor. Eminem was quoted to ask why people had a hard time believing white people were poor. He said he wouldn't say he lived in the ghetto but he did live in da 'hood' and he WAS poor.
Eminem had a pretty harsh childhood. His mom suffered from Munchausen's syndrome. In Cleanin Out My Closet he says "victim of Munchasen's syndrome, my whole life I was made to believe I was sick when I wasn't". Munchausen's syndrome is a mental disease when a parent believes that his child is sick and forces them to do unnecessary medical treatment.
In the song he mentions Ronnie and how his mom wished it was Eminem who died, not Ronnie. Ronnie was his mom's brother and who he considered to be "the only family member that understood [him]". Ronnie was also a rapper and he taught Eminem how to rap and appreciate rap music. When his mother called him to tell him Ronnie had died from suicide, Eminem began to feel that it was his fault. Eminem falls into a deep depression. He stops rapping and writing lyrics. When Hailie Jade was born, Eminem felt like that was his wake-up call to start rapping again. And so he did. And Thank God that he did! :):)
