This seems to be the case every year, but this year it seems more true than ever. Is there even any real debate on this issue? From what I've seen so far, the SEC title game will be a better indicator than the national championship will be on who's the best team in the country.

This year the Big 10 is terrible. The Big 12 isn't much better. The Pac-10 is O.K. this year, but there are still a lot of crappy teams. ACC is joke, and the Big East is only slightly better than the ACC.

i actually think you are underestimating the remaining conferences, but i have to agree that year in, year out, the sec is the best conference

i think the big east is proving, especially today with uconn beating down usf, that there are a lot of good teams, but no truly great ones, in that conference...the big 12 is pretty weak, with texas being very inconsistent, texas tech and texas a&m falling off the map, and nebraska giving up some 40 points per game...the only really good teams remaining in that conference are kansas(with the aid of the schedule), oklahoma, and missouri...the acc is horrible, and the big ten isn't too much better for the most part...the only conference that can challenge is the pac-10, and even so i don't think they stack up top to bottom

bottom line, when you see mississippi state and vanderbilt each one win from bowl eligibility and each are the worst team in their respective division(talent wise), it tells you that in the sec you must prepare for every game like you are facing the lsu's and florida's of the league

The SEC is actually down this year. They are very lucky not to be playing top teams from other conferences. Oklahoma, Mizzou, Oregon, etc. would beat any SEC team. The offenses downright suck, and the defenses aren't near as good as in the past. Aren't you forgetting that a lower mid-level K-State team went up and down the field at will against an elite SEC Auburn on their home field? The top 5-6 Big-12 teams would beat the top 5-6 SEC teams across the board. The bottom 2-3 SEC teams would beat the bottom 2-3 Big-12 teams though. I'll give you that.

This is a tough one, but I agree with the SEC statement. The league usually has six or seven teams every year who can win the SEC title, with two or three of those having National Title potential. The road schedule can be brutal (LSU had to go on the road to Arkansas, Tennesee, Auburn, and Florida in the SAME year. Not too many people have whole schedules that difficult) and you can't take a week off, even against lightweights like Vanderbilt and Miss St. SEC has claimed 4 Nat. Titles in 15 years, had a 6-3 record in bowl games last year, and leads the nation in attendance. The only complaint that I have is that they barely travel to play top teams in the other leauges out of conference.

I would say that if the SEC were to play any other conference in a tournament, I would bet that the SEC would win the most games, however, I would not bet that an SEC team wins the whole tournament.

Only saying that the SEC's best team could get beat...

Well yes it is by far the best conference. Look at the top 25. Every week there is some scubs kicking the crap out of the little guys in their conference. In the S EC it is war every week in conference.Teams like Notre Damn, Texas, Oklahoma and a few others wouldn't make it through their seasons undefeated either. Not only is it the best conference it is also the tough hands down.

All the SEC is doing now, is proving how watered down they are. So the basement of the SEC can beat the best teams of the SEC. Best conference? Think not. Evenly matched conference? Okay, hang your hat on the most evenly matched, average top to bottom conference.

People will always debate about the SEC being the best conference in college football... But I live in the Northeast and I can tell you the toughest and BEST conference in college football is the SEC. To many tough teams year in and year out!

Deepest without question. Too many teams in the top 25 because of their rep, without question.

Is the best team in college football in the SEC? Now there is where the real debate is.

You were fine until you said that the SEC title game is the real title game. Now you are just another irrational SEC fanatic.

Dude, your question changed..you went from talking about the best conference to the best team. Does it make sense to assume that the best team in the best conference is better than the best teams of weaker conferences? No. you have no argument.
