If someone is really free how can he/she be brainwashed?
Is it a highly defined and studied mechanism or we are too lazy to think for ourselves and the others?
Is ignorance the root of all global and individual problems?

It doesn't matter how brainwashed they are. They are simple people like all the others. It's a select few who are really brainwashed and unfortunately they are ruling the world. We all see the difference but nothing can be done or will be done. We are past swords and things...the guns are no longer the real weapons. So if we try (which we won't ever since the laziness has crept in so industriously that it is considered fashion) they will simply click a mouse button or even just ask someone to hit enter.

It's not only in America that people are brainwashed because of media, ignorance, consumerism, selfishness etc. This is a global pandemic.

Since most get all their news from mainstream sources, there is cause for worry. If people would read books instead and REALLY look into alternative sources, there might be hope. Generally the mainstream media have only trafficked in stereotypes of right and left, doing justice to neither.

There are plenty of Americans who like to think for themselves, I myself research everything, so I am far from being brain washed. We know our government is corrupt, we know the media speaks for the government also, we know so much about everything, but when standing up against our own government, we suffer consequences for doing it, we get labeled a terrorist, or something along that line, and then we are sent to jail. I just try to live as normal as possible, due to having children and family, also I do not vote, I'd rather govern myself.

The average IQ is 100, which means that most people are stupid.
It would be funny, if we were watching our societies from a safe distance -- like in a play or a movie. But it's not so funny, because it's real life.

The very notion of considering all Americans as the same is ridiculous. Perhaps you have been brainwashed.

There are negative influences in all cultures and nations and a tendency to try to "brainwash" because that brings power.... but I think Americans on a whole are more intelligent and wise to that sort of thing than people in any other country.
