because it's untrustworthy, physical and illogical behavior driven by emotion and animalistic sexual instinct rather than a sincere love that is based on the spiritual belief and true love. Do you think that is wrong or abnormal?

I don't think it's abnormal or wrong. If your sees it that way maybe it's because they've never had a good, loving, caring, trustworthy relationship before. The people that your friend cared for the most and loved the most are the ones who let him down. I've heard that a person who feels that way it's also because they were raped and it was samething very traumatic. They really never got over it and thats why they see it as something wrong. Have you ever asked your friend what their reasons are?

Bitterness, anyone?

Sex can be meaningless.

If one person just wants sex, and the other thinks it's love, then that other is going to be disillusioned at some point.

It's important for such a person to get clear on the difference between sex for sex's sake (which can be fun, but isn't the same as a more "meaningful" relationship), and genuine love, of which sex is just a part.

What your friend says is common enough.

Sounds like that person has been hurt. Just because someone SAYS they love you, doesn't mean that's what's really going on.

If a person doesn't want casual sex, then they shouldn't have sex with someone they don't really know, who hasn't shown that the relationship is more serious than mere sex.

Nasty and illogical?

Well, sex has a logic. Having it when you don't really want to, for whatever reason, is irrational.

Sounds like your friend has a tendancy to fall for the wrong person. Or is naive.

Their taking a break from sex sounds smart.

Then maybe they can sort things out, and come to some insight about the difference between sex and love.

I do not think that is wrong or abnormal at all. I do think that is a very unhealthy way to view sex, though. This person has never had a trustworthy relationship, sexual or otherwise, am I right? And this person has viewed those "animalistic" cravings at a human's worst I'm afraid.
