Contrast that with the way people acted in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina -- with all the killings, looting, rapes, and violence? Remember the rescue helicopters in NO couldn't work because people were shooting at them? Remember when they trashed the Super Dome, it had to be closed for over a year just to clean up what the people did? The San Diego stadium was ready for action a couple of days later after the same situation. What do you think was the big difference that made the people in San Diego so helpful and the people of New Orleans so horrible?

This is not about rich vs. poor, there are poor neighborhoods in San Diego! They still showed lots of kindness. Maybe something we refuse to see?

I agree. I lived in the North County area of San Diego for a few years back in the middle to late 1970s. The people who were evacuated from their homes weren't wealthy. They were just middle-class folks who were going to lose their lives if they didn't get away from those fires. I also credit the competence shown by state and local officials in reducing the threat to lives and providing safe shelter stocked with food, water and other provisions. Once the governor of California made the request for Federal assistance required by law, ten thousand cots arrived from Defense Department storage for use by the evacuees. Quite a contrast with a Naval task force sitting off-shore from New Orleans while the governor of that state mulled about sending in her request by fax machine.
But, despite that, there seems to be a trend in this country to use the term "wealthy" to describe anyone who has two dollars more than you. Of course, none of those jumping on that class-warfare bandwagon ever inquire as to how wealthy the media morons are that peddle this nonsense!

The news media portrayal was very different.

In San Diego they were with the fire crews, with where the rescued people were ending up. We have been told that 3 fires were probably started by arson ... was that 3 gangs or one person?

In New Orleans, the stories of shooting and looting were basically a tiny number of incidents repeated many times by the news media lacking good new info, to make it sound like there was an epidemic of problems.

There's also people who want to believe conspiracy theories, bad stuff about the government, other races.

When you put 1/2 a million people in a stadium with inadequate toilets and insufficient food or water for a week, what do you expect will happen?

I heard that New Orleans is a crazy violent place.
It is also a very poor region of the US.

I haven't heard much about San Diego other then it is a nice place.

I thought FEEBLE would of moved most of those people to Las Vegas.

But I guess not.

At the SD stadium they had live entertainment and gourmet food. NO, the people didn't even have water...its enough to send people crazy.

The goods donated in SD reached the people, only celebrities seemed to be able to reach NO, the goods remained outside the city.

ALSO, NO began as a crime infested hole before Katrina, why would they suddenly become civilized after a disaster?

I didn't see wealthy people who lost their homes. It looked like regular people to me. The rich people were in Malibu. I didn't see any rescue stadium for them. If your poor you should not pull together but go on a rampage and make a bad situation even worse. Then blame it on the government.

Come on now...that's a bit contentious - California is almost a country in itself, being amongst the richest in the world. Could it not be said that Louisiana and California (especially the extreme south) is as different as Sweden is from south-east England.
Obviously you allude to 'those horrid naygurs'...wonder what you think of Spike Lee's observations?

Yes, but keep in mind, most of the houses that were burned down are own by very wealthy people. Therefore your argument in comparing it to the Katrina incident is like comparing apples to oranges...
