Being part of any organization comprised of various members always means having both duties and rights. A simple relationship between two people is a two-way street - some rights you have to give in order to receive other rights, to simplify it grossly. Why would it be any different for an organization such as the EU? And more importantly, why would the UK rights be any different, that is far more interesting as a question.
