First off...your underaged. Second...why not just borrow money from your parents or something to pay for what you need? And then just pay them back?

I think that you have reason to be upset. Your late check cost you money! But - do you have any idea how much it costs to sue somebody? You have to hire a lawyer, etc. It would much more expensive than the $40+ that you spent on your tux and late car payment.
If you really want to pursue this you can go to Small Claims Court. Every area has different rules for it, so I would get on your county website or call your local jurisdiction and find out what you need to do.
But, you might just decide to suck it up. I would be thinking about looking for another job, though - and I don't think that I would worry about giving 2 weeks notice when I found one!
I agree with justhere - you should have made your car payment earlier. I didn't read carefully enough that your check was only one day late. But I'm not sure about being unable to sue if you're only 17. Perhaps that's right, but I just don't think that it is advisable in this case.

No, I can't sue your boss for her not paying you on time. And you aren't going to get anywhere with that either.
Try budgeting better so you have a bit of emergency money for the next time something comes up like a late paycheck or an expense you weren't expecting.

it was only a day late...you should have paid your car before hand...a day makes no difference....they wont even cash the check within a day..i should call your boss and tell them to fire you...you wait for the last minute and blame it on your boss...you should be grateful you even got a check..she might not have given it to you for another 2weeks

no, you can't. One day late isn't much. That wasn't the cause of your problems, failure to plan was the cause.
