I need to buy a tall freezer, larder fridge, dishwasher and washing machine when I move house. I know that some brands are cheap as they are lower quality, but now realise that many are the same basic product with just a different name badge. I have liked the dishwasher that I bought recently, which was a Bosch and am tempted to stick with them. It appears that they are exactly the same as Zanussi and Electolux though... Looking at this family of products and above, who offers really good value for money ratehr than paying for a label?

I guess what I am really looking for is families for products and where each brand sits. I know about Which? but they only ever study a handful of products in the group, none of which have the features or fit in the space that you have in your house.....

You can also go to www.epinions.com to see how other consumers rate their appliances and give pros and cons on them. I use that website before making some of my purchases and am always glad I knew about the product before buying it. They also give the best prices on the items and where to buy them.

please do not contact which, after a study a few years ago i can tell you that Hotpoint make dishwashers for most names including Bosch but when tested Bosch came out on top how does that work!!!
advertising that's how!!!!!

if you choose creda (which would be my choice) you are buying a Hotpoint superseded model.

however you are right it's all about groups and family's. look at the warranty's they are offering that's always a good start! i know on some models of LG you will get 5 years, knowing your safe for 5 years Cant be a bad thing.

also look at the after service you are getting who will help you the most, buy from local independent stores they will always do there best to help you they value your custom more.

hope this helps

Well, I bought a small Frigidare referigerator, and found out it was made by Electrolux. Frigidare air conditioners are made by somebody else, too. You just can't go by name anymore. (Anything I bought that was Frigidare worked good, though! :)

DON'T BUY MAYTAG!!! I bought a Maytag washer and dryer, to replace my old Maytag washer and dryer, that lasted 20-25 years with no trouble. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE from my new Maytag washer and dryer. I have had them 3 years, they have been fixed 2 or 3 times, and STILL have things wrong with them. The automatic drying cycle, which worked *PERFECTLY* on my old Maytag, just doesn't work at all on the new one. I had the repair man out twice, while it was under warranty. I set it for automatic DRYEST setting, and the clothes are still wet, when it's done. Nobody could fix it. I conclude it is a design defect. I always have to use the timed cycle. I had to buy a part and repair the water level control on the washer myself recently, and it makes alot of noise while running. NEVER BUY MAYTAG now!!! :"(
