Not entirely.
Slim chance is literal, a slim possibility of whatever you are seeking.
Fat chance is more sarcasm. It virtually leaves no room for a slim chance to get by. No way in hell.
I'll take a slim chance over a fat chance any day.

Fat chance means something is very likely but you usually mean it sarcastically so it ends up meaning the same as slim chance, which means something is very unlikely.

a fat chance means its so huge its impossible for it to happen and slim chance would be its so small its unlikely
