My silver mollie appears to be VERY pregnant. For the past day and a half (at least) she's been hanging out on the bottom of the tank in a corner. Her belly is actually resting on the gravel. She wiggles a bit, like she's scratching her stomach, and waves her front fins. A couple of times I've noticed that her tail seems to curve a little to the side. Once in a while she swims around the tank or up to the top, then back down to her corner.

I have a well-established community tank and all other fish appear to be healthy. Is she just in labor (how long is labor for mollies?) or do I need to medicate her? If she's sick, what is it? Thanks!

Sounds like your silver molly is going to be having some babies really soon. If she seems to have been acting that way for a long time you can try to encourage the babies to come by increasing the temperature of your water to between 80 and 82 degrees.

Be aware that mollies are known to try to eat their fry after they are born. You should consider separating mom from her babies when they are born if you want to save them.

It sounds like she is going into labor pretty soon
Don't medicate her, just wait what happens
This behaviour can occur already 5 days before the actuall labor
the labor itself can last anywhere from 1 hour to 12 hours

Hope that helps
Good luck
