They are NOT due out in November, that was an unverified rumor that was completely untrue. There is no real set date for them to come out, in fact they are not even in firm estimates, so I wouldn't worry about it being anytime soon. As for the first guy's answer, they are not new, you can use them in XP, and the games are already taxing them to the max.

Can't live in fear!!!

No matter when you buy it or how long you wait, your gonna end up paying more anyway. Just look for good rebates and a decent price drop on the card, then pounce on it. If you really wanna save some $$$ then look at the 8500 and 8600 series cards, still up to par and very good prices, then you could up to a newer one later down the road,, and sell the current card to someone else!!!

The 88xx series is still new, most people cant even use them because they dont have vista.

The power of the 88xx series is still mostly untapped, the games are behind the hardware again. will take them a little while to catch up.

usually it is a year before the next versions come out. I wouldnt spend over $300 on one right now since its been out a couple of months. but there is always going to be a next generation the question is just when?.

The other question to ask yourself is it really worth the upgrade from what you have now. If you have a 7950gt theres not a huge difference, but if you have a 6800xx then yes there would a signifigant increase.

Supposed to be out in November. When you get the XFX I suggest this one. I bought one. It's the fastest clocked GTS made:

I don't know where somebody gets it that 8800 cards are brand new--they've been out for quite a while, and that you have to have Vista to run them. They run fine in XP but only in DirectX9.
