Not all rap, and not by "retards." It takes a creative, intelligent person to write the lyrics. It *is* poetry! And it takes talent to pull it all together. The only thing I have strong objection to is vulgar lyrics and the destructive themes, which are, unfortunately , going to the ears of our young people. Rappers, don't forget: They believe! You are their heroes and they would not hesitate to do the things you suggest, even though they could be killed or maimed or spend a lifetime in prison. Rappers preach freedom, but that is not freedom and young people are thinking your suggestions are reality. Many of my former students are cryng in prison tonight, into their pillows (no pillowcases or sheets), because they couldn't wait to be Gangstas. Some are in the grave and didn't even have a chance to grow up.

Because you are their heroes, they don't think it's hard to bleed and die. They don't think it's possible to be locked up, minus their bling, cell phones, purses, wallets, colognes and deoderant.

Rappers of America, you are so talented. Why not become different kinds of heroes? Let the music rock on, but in a better way, no matter what your lifestyle may be. You could use some of your resources to relieve the pain & suffering some of these children are experiencing right
now. What heroes you could really be! Think it over.

Peace out.

PS: To the question-asker, if you are still using the word, "retard," it looks like we are going to take you back to school.

Well, one thing is for sure: Whether rap is considered artistic or not, I don't think it should be categorized as music.

I think singing is too dynamic a talent to leave out of any song. I don't even care if they're singing in a different language. Just sing darn it!

I wouldn't waste my money buying an album with rapping instead of singing, or one of just instrumentals. There has to be singing. I appreciate it a lot.

One more note: I don't think bands like AFI, Mars, Underoath or anything of the like are very good listening. It's all the same, and overplayed.

Psh,disagree.
I dont like rap. at all. Not a fan of it. . .
But I disagree because rap isnt just attempting poetry and I know that. Its not as easy as it looks. They have to keep the beat and sing so it fits and that hard.

In the general sense I agree with the 'retards' bit.

But in a minority of cases, rap/hip-hop music can be genuinely inspiring lyrics thrown down over a truly grimy beat.

Normally it's a case of some neanderthal, weighted down with gold, going on about how he's going to *beep* *beep* your friends and your *beep*ing grandma with a *beep*er. Which is not art.

Meanwhile, despite being very experienced in the bedroom, I have yet to have a cap busted in my @ss. Sounds somewhat kinky.

Disagree (even though I'm not a big fan of rap it IS poetry and there is nothing wrong with poetry, I just don't like it if they pretend its music)

By the way, maybe you should attempt some proper capitalization.
