Want to give them as Christmas gifts to my three youngest grandaughters. So far have only found a Shirley Temple set in one of our catalogs (not cheap at all!)....and would love more choices if you know of any. Thanks.

Wow, great answers and lots of ideas...looks like I'm going to have plenty of choices and hopefully the prices will be more reasonable than what I found so far. Thanks.

If we all enjoyed them so much....and we know our kids and grandkids would....I wonder why they're just not out there in the stores and readily available like they used to be. I was so busy raising my sons and never even noticed that paper dolls had become a thing of the past!

I did a quick search on Amazon and came up with quite a few! My sister and I loved Katy Keene paper dolls. We would put a piece of paper over the dolls and make our own clothes by tracing over the outline of the doll. Mom got really tired of sweeping up after us and put an old blanket down for us to sit on, then she'd just shake it into the garbage after we were done.

My sisters and I played with paper dolls. They were so pretty. When they were worn out, we cut them out of the newspaper.
On rainy days my grandmother would give us a big aluminum dish pan, scissors and we would cut paper and sears roebuck catalogs into small pieces. We had so much fun passing hours playing like that. I had forgotten about the paper dolls. Sometimes you can find the old toys and games at Cracker Barrell restaurants. They probably have an online store.

I didn't know they were a thing of the past. I assumed they were around. I played with them, but most of the time couldn't afford them, so I used catalogs. I could make a paper doll out of card board and cut clothes out of catalogs. I could spend an entire days doing this.

The last time I bought paper dolls I found them at Target. I just checked, and at least on the Target web site, they still carry them. I did notice that they carry paper doll scrap books and pregnant paper dolls....LOL

I loved paper dolls, both 'store bought' and the ones I made from catalogs. My own daughters played with them some. They also played with the Colorform dolls too. Now they have magnetic dolls....I would have loved those....I think I'll buy some for my grandnieces and neighborhood kids.

I remember very much playing with paper dolls. I think I still have them in the attic somewhere, that is if the mice haven't decided to make a bed out of them.
If you will go to www.makingfriends.com I think that you might find what you are looking for. That is just one of the sites that is there. My daughter told me about a really neat place to find just about anything that you want on the net. This place has several sites for paper dolls, but I picked this one for you.

Are they still around? Loved my paper dolls and used to make my own clothes for them by putting the cardboard down on some paper and going round the edges with a pencil and then using coloured pencils, and up some more clothes! Lovely idea for younger girls for Christmas presents.

I used to play with paper dolls all the time as a youngster. I can remember cutting them out of the Mc Call's magazine each month & playing with them by the hours. Paper dolls were also tucked inside the "Little Tonette" perms. I played with them while the perm was processing. I haven't shopped for paper dolls but instead, bought "Color Forms" for my grandchildren. (kind of the same concept as paper dolls)

I was born in 1969 and money was tight so my Mother made all our paper dolls. I don't know where you can buy them maybe try searching online for paper dolls or eBay. I think Mom used to cut out pics from magazines and tape light cardboard to the backs and then she and I would draw the clothing

In the late 40's and early 50's, I loved playing with my paper dolls. I clearly remember my Ann Blythe dolls. It use to drive me up the wall when the little flaps used to break off the clothing.

I used to have quite a collection when I was younger. I kept the outside covers, taped the short edges up, and had a "folder" to keep everything in. I think my favorites were the bridal ones. I have not seen any in years, only on Ebay or other internet sites, but they are usually too expensive.
