I personally use IE7, Firefox, and Netscape Navigator (a Firefox clone).
I find IE and Firefox to be really close. Some folks are Microsoft haters and will tout Firefox to the rafters, but it is no longer far ahead of IE. It was about a year to a year and a half ago, but not since about Mar of 2007.
I use IE for logging on to my home page and all my secure transactions such as online banking and check pay.
I use Firefox and Netscape for general browsing.
It's really your preference.
Just don't get hung up on all the BS you'll hear about one being SOOOOO much better than the other and how much one is so much more secure because it is all hogwash these days.
I say download them both and see which one you prefer.
That's my "humble" opinion!!!

Internet Explorer is good, but it isn't secure enough. Mozilla Firefox is the most secure browser around.
Someone I know told me Opera is also a very secure browser, but it's really expensive, even to download.
Mozilla Firefox is free, and has much more features than IE7. I think I feel quite stupid that I'm using IE7 right now!!!
EDIT - Internet Explorer also crashes if you close a tab which comes before another tab (stupid, huh?!)
On some websites, this is the time to use IE7, because Firefox doesn't support some features on sites.

Many people enjoy using Firefox and have good results with it. However, I've discovered many websites that I need to download information for my college courses do not work unless I use Explorer. Also, I have the Windows Vista, and it just seems to work better with Explorer (what a surprise). So, in review, many people enjoy Firefox and experience more reliabliity than Explorer, however, many places on the internet will not recognize it.

Firefox rules because it has add-ons, themes and loads of smaller things which you forget about but then think "oh thats cool".
And if a site only works in IE then theres a thing you can download which means that you can switch rendering engine for the browser so it'll display like it would in IE. Theres pages which only view correctly in Firefox though and not in IE and theres no add-on for IE or anything like that which can correct this problem so yeah, firefox all the way.

I would say Firefox.
First, it is by default more secure and its tabbed browsing is more stable.
Second, it allows for a lot more flexibility with its extensions. The possibilities are endless. There are so many extensions you will find that, once you use them, will make you think "How did I ever browse without them?"
third, with the IE tab extension you can still get the look and feel of Internet Explorer rendering engine which some websites (rarely) require.
fourth, by its own admission Microsoft is playing catch-up in the browser department.

Mozilla Firefox by far. If you crash you can pick up where you left off which is great. Excellent plugins too. Plus I think it is more stable and also more secure.

you do no longer seek any swifter with Mozilla than with information superhighway Explorer; that one and all has to do inclusive of your information superhighway. Mozilla began out with the assumption of utilising "tabs." To be common, that became truly between the only good issues approximately it that set it aside. many of the recent variations of information superhighway Explorer, even with the undeniable fact that, even have tabs. it quite is truly all as much as you, and what you want. I advise getting the two explorer courses and identifying which you like extra proper.

Firefox - I switched from IE a year ago and since then, no crashing, no freezing, and websites look better. There are also tons of add-ons that make browsing easier and funner.
