We are not imperialists as so many seem to love to assert. If we were why is it that Europe, Kuwait, South Korea, Mexico, Canada, Panama, Grenada, Cuba, Serbia, Kosovo, and many other places are not under U.S. government control? An Imperialist Nation would have taken control of all these places. Japan was an imperialist nation when it had enslaved a large part of Asia prior to WWII. China is imperialist by virtue of the fact that they just walked in and took over Nepal and Tibet and killed many in the process. We are the exact opposite of an imperialist nation.

No. In all of the land we have taken from others as a result of war, only Puerto Rico and Guam were kept as territories of the U.S. Every other empire kept the land it conquered, until the empire was dissolved.
