It was probably a part of a dream but who knows, your mom could have come back to you in a dream.

It was just you thinking of her subconsciously, in my opinion. I have had several voices or extremely vivid visions while I was about to go to sleep. I also, just the other day, had a "waking dream". Actually it was a total recollection of a dream I had previously a few nights before. Yet I was just sitting at this computer chair totally awake! And I was re-iterating the dream to my partner. Very strange to be able to do that.
I believe that these vivid voices, visions, and recollections just show how varied our minds can think about feelings. I personally don't think that people come back to us, but rather that we recall a ton of stuff from them from when they were alive. It might be possible that our brains store absolutely every experience that we've ever had in life. And when our emotions need to recall these experiences, we get to re-live or re-experience them either in dreams or just in waking thoughts. I think this was true in your case too. Your Mom isn't going to come back to tell you anything new that she didn't already tell you when she was alive. And probably doesn't need to.
My Mom died about 7 years ago, and sometimes I have dreams or thoughts of our past from a long time ago. And they just pop up for apparently no reason at all. So, I just accept them for what they are, sometimes trying to see if they fill a need in my immediately situation. If I can't find anything, then I just chalk it up to the possibility of some transferrance of object recognition. For example, everytime I see a mimosa tree, I think of my Mom, and I know exactly why, but there are plenty of other objects that might make me think of her without it being obvious to me. Hope this helps. I also hope that you will just take these voices or visions as they come in a positive way and just enjoy them. Dave

I am sorry you have lost your parents so early in life.
The brain takes in a multitude of data every waking moment. hen it takes all of this in it is raw data that makes no sense to us until the brain organizes it. Sometimes the brain hears something that is really nothing at all, but in an effort to make this gibberish something with meaning, it assigns a meaningful label. For example, if I hear the windshield wipers go they sound like nothing, but if I take my hearing "out of focus" they noise can sound like screeching or talking people.
When you're falling asleep, you are settling in and the brain is between consciousness and sleep. It's not uncommon for things that happen during that limbo period to seem otherworldly. Most ghost sightings and alien abduction claims happen during this time.
Which is more likely, that you misunderstood a noise or hallucinated your mother talking, or that she was actually speaking to you?

You really might have heard her and it's not that abnormal right after a person's death. It's called Illusionary phenomenon and it's normal, but ussually it occurs much sooner after the death. Maybe there are things lately that you have been thinking about or doing that remind you of her. Or LOL maybe things you think should would approve or disapprove of!

I believe she was some place close by & she really called out your name. Say a prayer for her.....Do you ever talk out loud to your parents.....it is a good thing to do . There is nothing wrong with that . They can hear you. They can see you. They love you & are watching over you.

This happens sometimes when the brain is beginning to fall asleep and thoughts and memories jumble together. One night as I was almost asleep, I heard a male voice say very distinctly, "Good evening ladies and gentlemen". I jumped out of bed and looked in every nook and cranny in the house, and no one was there but me. It freaked me out!

is the place you heard her a place she once visited or lived in? its possible you could have experienced a residal haunting. this is a phenoma in which something that has happened in a particular place is recorded into the environment and can replay itself when atmospheric conditions are right. if your mother had been in your house and called you like that before, it could have left an impression on the house, and it might replay itself several times.
or it could be anything the other people are suggesting, but this suggestion hasnt been said yet, so i wanted to put it out there...

It was her. In that stage of sleep where you're almost asleep but still barely conscious is the best mind state to be in to be able to hear spirits. The body dies, but the spirit--the essence of the person, their personality, their memories--goes on. You are in spirit as you were in life, so chances are, she just stopped in to let you know she was there.

There is a point when you are in a "trance like" state. When you are half asleep & half awake. This is when you are more likely to be able to communicate with spirits.
You may also be clair-audient. I have had this happen. In this state you may also be able to talk to them as well.
Next time someone talks to you or calls your name, answer them & ask what they want. They may be able to talk to you.

i totally agree with hislady, above....from what ive had happen to me, with messages from passed over loved ones...id say it was her, just to let you know she is still around...ive aslo had a lot of things happen, when im on border line of falling asleep, such as been visited...now i know people will tell me and you that the brain plays tricks in this state..of just about to fall asleep...ive wondered this myself....but what has given me an answer to this, that we do have contact with loved ones and not our brain playing tricks...ive had two friends couple of years apart, visit me, in this state..(.not quite asleep but almost )....they were trying to let me know they had died...i saw them both, with several other things that happened, specially with the first one.....they had both committed suicide, and i did not know till weeks later....now my brain, my thoughts were never on them, i had no idea they were dead....i couldnt work out what was happening, why i was seeing and feeling them, until i had heard they were gone, then i could see what they were trying to tell me, and why they were visiting me...(specially the first one who died in 2001 i was getting so many signals from him, and always while i was retired to bed...im guessing this is because we are the most quite and relaxed at this time....the second one in 2004, his face appeared on the wall, it slowly emerged, when i recognised his face i grabbed my sister and her friend (at night) and they saw him to, i wondered why, then weeks later i found out he was gone..and that explained it....so i would say it was your mum just dropping by, letting you know she was with you........
