Ni hao ma?
"ni" means "you", "hao" means "good", "ma" is a tone, means an inquiry, used at end of questions.

Use IE or Netscape,
Choose Chinese Lily or Wang, Lily recommended,
Copy and Paste “ How are you? 你好吗？” in the box.
Press "Listen to speech 64k" button,
It would say in Mandarin: "Hello, my name is Lily, from NeoSpeech. Thank you for testing my voice.
How are you? 你好吗？"
So now you see, adding the "how are you" here would help you to identify where she would say “ni hao ma” Also notice how in Mandarin "hello" is just “ni hao”, which is part of "how are you" "ni hao ma?”
This is a 9-second sould file, once it stops playing, you can move the bar to 7/9, play and you can hear the “ni hao ma” again.

Ni means you
hao means good
ma is just added to the end of questions.
hao is pronounced like "how"
Ni is pronounced like "knee"
