Thank-you to all who have given me some names to research. I have already downloaded numerous songs from the artists that several of you suggested, and I am not dissappointed. Thank-you all.

My fave is Robbie Robertson.

Of Robertson's four solo albums, the last two are heavily Native American themed. "Music for the Native Americans" (1994) was produced as a soundtrack for a television documentary.
"Contact From the Underworld of Redboy" was released in 1998.
Several tracks from "Contact" have a noticeable trip-hop rhythmic style to them, where as many cuts from MftNA feel traditional despite being contemporary arrangements.
Both albums are among my all time favorites.

Note: If you think you will really like "Contact", it's definitely worth seeking out the more expensive Japanese version which contains three extra tracks not found on the cheaper regular version.

Had the good fortune once to hear R. Carlos Nakai live. My favorite of his many albums is "Emergence".

Of Peter Kater's many albums, I have only heard "Migration", which I do recommend, especially if you're looking for a lyric-less, new-age, slight jazz feel.

Douglas Spotted Eagle's "Sacred Feelings" is a nice mellow, ambient sounding album.

Haven't heard much John Trudell, but have always been curious due to his lengthy history as an outspoken Native American activist.

Indigenous is a pretty famous and a very good Native artist. (This artist fits most closely with what you are looking for).
Red Bone is some old rock but it's awesome.
John Trudell does spoken word and it is the best and enlightening.

I really enjoy Litefoot and Haida. They are both in the rap industry and there is one more that I can't put a finger on his name but I heard that he's about to release an album thats supposed to be pretty huge.
