YES! You get one by building a resume of experience and training that is impressive enough to make the agent want to represent you. This takes a number of years. Start by being in your school plays. then if you seem to be any good at acting, take some acting classes at a professional school, then be in lots more plays and take more classes--in a few years you will have a good resume.

I know people who get acting work who do not have an agent. I did also for a while. Having an agent though is one of the best ways to get better auditions and better jobs.
Without an agent you can get a variety of work like extra work or work on soaps for example.
The answer you received before this one is some good advice though. Start getting into some plays and things to get your feet wet.
If you don't have any experience at all, your next step is NOT to get an agent. First get some training and some experience and then think about the agent.

When you are ready to get an agent, you could follow the advice on this page link: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/find_a_talent_agent.html

Good luck!

You do not need an agent to be an actor..

You need an agent to get PAID to be an actor.

How do you get one? Demonstrate that you are capable of making money at acting. How do you do this? Act. If people are willing to pay to see you, rest assured an agent will contact you

Ask your actor friends, the procedure in the city the procedure to meet with an agent.

Do you have a lot of acting experience? Do you have a lot of theatre work on your resume?

Have you performed in Regional Theater?
Community Theater? Do you have a degree in Theater, from a University with a well-resepcted theater department?

Well it's best to have one. you don't NEED one if you just like doing plays. But for tv acting it's really a good thing to have because they can get you in too all the ones that you couldn't on your own.

To get one really i'd say to go to film festivals. Theres tons of directors there that are looking for actors. They'll put you in their show and you can get discovered when they show the movie. :D
Thats what i did and im doing pretty good.
