I agree that it would be November 1st; however, come Monday I would refer to it as "on or this Thursday." Come Monday, I would refer to November 8th as "next Thursday."
How pleasant it is to scratch at the surface of something so ordinary and find food for thought.

Usually when someone says "next Thurs." (or whatever day) they are really saying "not this coming Thurs. but NEXT Thursday".

Weeks run from Sunday to Saturday. If it is Saturday, they mean November 1st. If it is Sunday (the start of a new week), then they mean November 8th.

Technically it means Nov.1, but if it were this coming up monday when they said it, it would mean the 8th

Next Wednesday means the Wednesday following the day it was said/written, so it would be March 28th.
