"These days" not much, Only the other week I had cause to phone and report two rogue dogs running amok with the wild fowl in the park lake,I have my dog,(harnessed) and my freind's little dog (on a lead) a Yorkie, any how the two dogs 1,was a cross pitt type the other a jack-russel cross, they came upon me and my two dogs, damned hard work to keep mine at bay while these two mutts were trying to attack,I would not let that happen,no way,I tethered my two up and physicaly chased the b/stard dogs off. As an after thought I'd best report to the police that there are two nasty dogs running amok, only to be told there is nothing they can do,well what happened to the dangerous dogs act, and the protection of the puplic ie,people on the park with their kids, and their dogs minding their own,the policewoman the asked me to describe both dogs,so as I was doing so,these two mutts are upon us again, and policewoman says for me to calm down,I gave her a peice of my mind! and then trying to describe the pitt type dog,I told her it was brown Brindle in colour,I was dumbstruck when she asked what colour was brindle, They never did show uo,nor did the dog warden which they should have notified,,,,So, "Faith no More!!

The trouble is that we have a watered down police force with the increasing use of 'specials'. These really are Policing on the cheap and they are generally useless.
Funnily enough a friend's wife was having her windows smashed by thugs who her daughter had got involved with and were after her. She called the Police during this assault and was told that it sounded like a domestic and they do not attend domestics. She further pleaded with them to attend - amidst the sound of smashing glass - but they then said that by the time they got there the thugs will have gone as they were a few miles away. When they did turn up - the next day - they said that they knew the thugs and that the family was best not to make charges as this would aggravate the situation and they would return. Who said crime does not pay.
The irony is that my friends were living in the ex-police house of the village - the crime level having soared there since its closure

I live in Waterbeach, and i allowed my 15 year old daughter to go to her friends 16th birthday party in Ely. when i went to pick her up at midnight an incident had left her unconscious. Due to the fact that i could not get any sense out of the parents that were supposed to have been supervising the party i went round to Ely police station to inform them of what i believed had been happening at the party. When i got to the police station it was shut. I used the Yellow phone out side the door and was told that a car would be with me shortly. 45 minutes later & after numerous more call a car eventualy turned up. when i asked the two officers to follow me to the house were my daughter was they told me that they were sorry but they had been called away to a fight. Thier priority was not a 15 year old girl laying unconscious but some one fighting. I told them not to boyher but could they send an ambulance to the address as i am going to kick the heads in of the pairents. the two police officers were at the house befor me. The fact that i had to threaten them did not instill me with confidence at all.
1, Police station was closed
2, I felt that they were the only officers on duty
3, My daughter had a thick head for 2 days
4, She is still grounded

What is your suggestion then? Should we not have police because they failed to answer immediately to a window smashing? The police deal with more grave tragedies on a daily basis than window smashing- they tend to deal with issues that are top priority first. I don't care what you say & I can say whatever I want to because you'll never pick my response as a best answer so here goes: I am proud of our police and the job they do!

It's down to lack of resources and for that blame the Government not the local Officers.

I only wish they concentrated on the issues that concern us and not on those issues which raise revenue. We have to eradicate violence in our society in order that ordinary law abiding people feel happy to walk the streets and go about our lives in a way we deserve. Police need to concentrate their efforts on targetting known areas where violence is rife and hit the perpetrators hard. Forget their human rights and rid our streets of this vermin. They also need to target drug use and drunkeness for both these indulgences cause violence in our society.

I called them once (some stupid local teenagers smashed my mailbox), and it took them a million years to get to my house too. And I live in the quietest suburb where nothing ever happens, so I don't know what took them so freaking long! I guess that's just how they are in all neighborhoods.

Yes i do have faith in them and i believe the majority of them do a very good job. If it wasnt for them there wouldnt be any law and order in this country. It is also a dangerous job and thats why they should be respected.
