it has nothing to do with the man's side of the family. you the women need to drop eggs or split them so your chances are not improved by his family.

No. It all depends on the woman's genes. Identical twins are produced when the woman's egg splits in two after fertilization and fraternal twins are produced when a woman releases two eggs instead of one and both get fertilized. So either way it depends on what is going on inside of your body NOT his.

If twins is something you really want and you have enough money to blow then you can google ART or Assisted Reproduction Technology. There are fertility doctors that can basically assure you that you will get pregnant with multiples. However, sometimes it is hard to find a fertility doctor that will do this. Most of them only want to help those are unable to have children on their own not just people that want twins.

Julia Robert's twins were conceived with the help of this technology.

Best of luck.

Is There a Twin Gene? Do Twins Run in Families? Will I Have Twins?

People are very curious about a family or genetic connection to twinning. I often get emails inquiring, "My grandmother's uncle was a twin. Will I have twins?" And when I tell people that I have twins, one of the first questions I'm asked is, "Do twins run in your family?," almost as if they aim to justify or explain my daughters existence as part of a historical pattern.

There are plenty of families with multiple sets of multiples, for example, the Davis family of Frebericksburg, Virginia who have three sets of twins, or Eric and Elizabeth Hayes of New Jersey, parents of two sets of twins and sextuplets.
There are also families who seem to have many sets of twins spread among generations, twin cousins and grandparents and nieces and nephews.

But do twins really run in families? Actually that's probably one of the most widely perpetuated myths about multiples. While some families do seem to have a preponderance of multiple births, it's often more than a coincidence than a connection.

Is There a "Twin Gene"?

Of the factors that influence multiple birth, there is only one that could be identified as genetic or explained by family history: hyper ovulation. Hyper ovulation is the tendency to release multiple eggs during ovulation, increasing the chances of conceiving dizygotic (or fraternal) twins. So, in families where the women have a gene for hyper ovulation, genetics would sufficiently explain an increased presence of fraternal twins.

However, only women ovulate. So the connection is only valid on the mother's side of the family. While men can carry the gene and pass it on to their daughters, a family history of twins doesn't make them any more likely to have twins themselves.

It depends on if they are identical or fraternal twins. If the twins are on your husband's side you are not more likely to have twins since either the egg splits and creates identical twins or you release more than one egg and they are both fertilized creating fraternal twins. I am not sure if the DNA in the sperm has anything to do with the egg splitting early but I am pretty sure that it doesn't. So no...your hubby's sisters (if he has any) and your future daughters are more likely to have twins but you are not.

It has nothing to do with him when it comes to you having twins. You have to be able to drop two eggs or have one split. It does affect whether your children will have twins.

Nope, he has no influence beyond donating the sperm. Your children if girls would have a higher chance of having twins.

Do get married before you get pregnant though - always a good idea.
