So let me get this straight.

Ahmadenijad speaking about Islamo-Facism (Iran truly is the epitome) = Brave because it was in a "hostile environment" (the only booed when he said there were no gays).

Conservatives speaking against Islamo-Facism = Racist and condemnation?

It seems the only things these people will boo you over are speaking against Islamo-Facism and speaking against Gays.

Liberals support terrorists over America every time they get the opportunity. Haven't you heard?

9-11 was an inside job
the US is to blame for the spread of terrorism
the US lied about the spread of WMD materials
American foreign policy is tyrranical
American troops are murdering Iraqis

Everything that terrorists do, liberals blame America.

Well, let's see. First, although there may have been a smattering of polite applause at the beginning of Ah's speech, he was later greeted with boos, catcalls, and uproarious laughter. I realize you'd rather believe that all the students lifted him up and carried him out on their shoulders, but they didn't. Second, both the Spectator items were too long and the print too small for me to read all of, but it would appear that there was a "small crowd" of protesters of the Islamo-Fascist week. And no matter how much you resent it, we are still allowed freedom of speech in America, though for how long is questionable. It's also obvious you didn't read the last article yourself, or you might understand why this particular topic bothers some people.

Be clear, what is laudable about Columbia having this Iranian guy speak is that they had him speak; same holds for Horowitz.. Free speech. Free expression of ideas even if they are really stupid. Doesn't anybody get it? We don't need the right to speak freely if everyond is gonna talk happy talk.

And the students have the right to applaud either one or protest either one, whether or not you and your little pals agree with them.

Sometimes I just want to give up on you people...

Because they are educated, and realize "Islamo-Fascism" is a propaganda phrase that by definition is false..
You must mean Islamic Terrorist, Islamic Radical, or religious fundamentalist.

They applaud because they admire his bravery for coming to a hostile environment and speak confidently about his views. I don't think they actually share his views. They protest those who speak against Islamo-Fascism because that rhetoric is usually filled with rascism and condemnation of the Islamic faith. So to review, they applaud Ahmadenijad for having the courage of his convictions, and they deride those that speak against Islamo-Fascism for trying to instigate a holy war.

Probably for the same reason some people still applaud George Bush for his twisted views.

What I read in your quotes was people exercising their freedom of speech, report of a "small crowd" of protesters, most of which were not students, and one guy who wanted to shut down Horowitz.

He was not prevented from speaking.....

Most of them don't. They simply defended his right to speak. Its a free country and opponents had a chance to protest. Censorship makes no sense especially in view of the idiocies he said.

When did Columbia's faculty and students applaud Ahmadinejad? I thought he got mad because they boo'ed him.
