Right, I'm thinking of buying a laptop off eBay. But it has Windows Vista Basic, now, no offence to Vista lovers, but I hate it! Anyway I was wondering is there anyway of knowing before I buy this laptop that I can definatly downgrade to Windows XP? And I've tried looking for the hardware manufactures names websites etc. But there is no manufactures stated in the item description, for example it says: SOUND - Internal soundcard. And it's not just that it's the same with the HDD and Graphics Card some other hardware as well. So the question is; Is there anyway of finding out weather I can downgrade this laptop to Windows XP like it should be! Without knowing the manufactures of the hardware?

This laptop is a; Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Pro V3515 Edition. Pre-loaded with Vista Basic.

I used to work with Fujitsu Notebook and Tablet Devices. If Fujitsu released a laptop with support only for Vista, there will be no support on their website for XP nor will they answer questions if you install XP and call them.
If you upgrade the memory on the laptop after buying it from eBay, you may wind up liking Vista even though it needs 2 GB of RAM for optimal performance.

Buy an install disk for windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2. as long as it's a full install and not an upgrad epackage, you should be able to reformat the Hard Drive on the laptop and install XP. You will not be able to salvage any programs that come with the laptop unfortunately. But you can downgrade the laptop to XP.

i whent to this shop where they sell, and repair computer/laptops and printer and in this store you tell them that you want an windows xp with everything u want in it, and they get u to choose the kind of laptop u want (colours) and ur set. So if u want a computer that's personal u have to go to this little stores not ebay.best buy and future shop, malls like that u won't find wht u looking for.

just go to staples and buy it,why jack up a new pc with software your unsure of.I also felt the same way about vista,but it has grown on me ,I had to download some patches and updates to get some of my devices working ,but i'm starting to like it.give it a chance before you delete it.XP sucked at first as well.

good idea. you can easily downl grade to XP from Vista,
i cant think of any reason y Xp wouldnt work. ask the seller of the system what the make and model of the system is.
