What's cooking for Thanksgiving Dinner this year? We are having turkey of course (lol), sweet ham with honey and pineapple, stuffing, mashed potatoes and extra gravy, honey, buttered corn on the cob, homemade biscuits, spanish rice, pasteles, penin, sweet potatoe pies, apple pies, ice cream, potatoe salad, apple cider, beer, fruit punch, and a comfortable recliner to crash out and sleep in...the house will be crowded!

I'm making a Turkey injected with honey, butter and brown sugar, stuffing, mashed potatoes made with cream cheese and heavy cream, some banging @$$ gravy that is my own secret... homemade cream corn, Crab Legs (Because I just love them)
Pumpkin cheese cake, biscuits, and anything else I can manage to fit in, seen as how I do all the cooking...

Thanks for asking!

What is "penin" and "pasteles"? I am intrigued by your menu!

Tradition is the rule at our Thanksgiving after last year's "experimental" menu, where we womenfolk brought new and different side dishes and desserts and the kids and men COMPLAINED!

Can you imagine, after hours and hours of cooking, cleaning and getting THEM ready, then serving and cleaning up, they had the nerve to critisize???

This year, it's back to all the standards, forget the innovation.

One great improvement I made last year that will carry over to the traditional menu is the 24-hour vegetable broth immersion of the fresh, not frozen and thawed, turkey. Roasted on a charcoal grill, it was ultra-tender, juicy and fabulous!
