Virtually any water-proof (or water-proofable) box would work. The deciding factor will be how BIG do you need it, and will you be burying it ? Plastic, Steel, Wood...

My Dad buried Band-aid Boxes (the old metal ones) all over Granite County Montana back in the 1950's... and we found a number of them in the late 80's. They were both time-capsules and "hunting stashes"... all had been dipped in parafin, and all were in rather good shape.

In 1980, the high school class ahead of me buried Tupperware cake containers... sealed with duct-tape, and they all turned out safe and dry when dug up in 2000.

Good Luck with your project.

I made a time capsule for my son out of a large coffee can. They seal tight. I decorated the outside with paper and pictures. You could use a permanent paint as well. Good luck!

Shellac a cigar box in plastic or a milk jug. Take care.
