It's all very confusing. My boyfriend decided he was really a girl. So he went and had some shots and implants, but he still has all the guy stuff. And it still works real well. So, at what point is he my girlfriend?

Dear Debbi,
FIRST let me "thank you" for staying with this person. So few relationships actually survive transition in this culture. it takes courage to remain with someone that has made this decision for there lives.
The BEST rule of thumb is
When in PRIVET use the gender of preference [In this case address her as female.]
In PUBLIC address her/refer to her based on:
How others are perceiving her
or
how she is presenting herself at the time.
I know it's confusing at first. But I have Faith in the two of you
Hugs,
PennyAnn

This can be a bit tricky. On the one hand only he can decide when he is ready to be addressed as she. On the other hand, you have rights too. For example: if you tell people at work your boyfriend is coming to pick you up but then he shows up looking like a woman you are the one having to deal with that. I'm not saying anything good or bad about that, I'm simply saying you are the one having to deal with it, not your boyfriend. Too often in relationships with a transgendered person the focus becomes entirely on them and their needs. Yet people must recognize that while it is an independent personal journey, they are in a relationship containing two people. BOTH of those person's wants and needs have to be equally important! So I would sit him down and talk to him. Tell him your thoughts and feelings on the matter, ask him his, then try to reach a compromise you both are comfortable living with.

Good luck to you!

I'd say you start calling your boyfriend your girlfriend when he spends more time dressed up in your clothes than his clothes and before you know it, he has larger female wardrobe than you do. But, I think you can safely call him your girlfriend when you go on a double date and watch your girlfriend pleasure his new boyfriend.

Whenever they start going by female pronouns and/or a girl name, you should accept that and call them what they wish.

I would suggest looking up information about transgenderism and ask your friend about what they are feeling for a little more insight into this topic.

I would suggest that you read about gender dysphoria. It sounds like you're not too sure about the issue of transsexuality.
