People will always hate on the teams that are successful. I am a huge Red Sox fan and have been since way prior to "04" The Red Sox will never replace the Yankees as the most hated team until we become as dominant as them and win as many championships. The Red Sox are the hot topic now because we are on the verge of winning a second world championship in 4 yrs. Don't Hate Congratulate!!

I have to ask. WHY?

It is only in baseball when a team does well for more than one year that people hate them and I don't get it. That's not the case in any other sport. Now, pulling for an underdog in a series, such as this years World Series and the folks pulling for Colorado, that I can get. But the sick and perverse pulling for a manifestly bad franchise like the Cubs beats the heck out of me. For all my life everyone has hated the Yankees. Here come the Red Sox with MAYBE a chance to become something of a dynasty and already people hate them. This is one of the reasons that baseball is falling in popularity. To the beginner, there are no good teams. No wonder they prefer the NFL or the NBA, where it's all right to cheer for a team that's winning.

First of all i believe that the only reason the Yankees are considered the most hated team in baseball is because of jealousy. I'm not just saying that because i just happen to be a Yankee fan. Other than that and the dang payroll i see no reason to hate the Yankees. The entire ball club is a bunch of class acts.

And yes, i believe that the red sox deserve to be the most hated team in baseball. If you look at their players, (emphasis on Manny Ramirez) very few of them are clean shaven or have normal hair (Ramirez, Ortiz, youkilis, tek, crisp, pedroia... i could go on and on). It's an insult to them, their fans, the red sox organization, and all of major league baseball.

They also can be very arrogant (emphasis on Manny Ramirez again). I'm sure you all saw Beckett yell at lofton during game against the Indians. What did they win that game by?? 6?? so what is he yelling about??

Also, Ive never seen anyone stop and put their hands up like Ramirez does, like in game 4 he hit that solo home run. He stopped and walked around the bases arrogantly. They were still losing by 4, and they lost that game. So what was the significance of that?? same with that 390 ft single. why run? just argue a call that you won't end up getting anyway. great way to win. Alex Rodriguez, when hitting his 500TH HOME RUN, did not do that.

Not quite. I still hate the Yankees more, but the Red Sox are now second. It's not even so much the high payroll as this "Red Sox Nation" BS. I see more Red Sox hats and shirts now than Yankees aparral, and I sure didn't see this many people wearing Red Sox stuff a few years ago. Stop jumping on the bandwagon, it's full.

Any team that makes different colored hats (especially pink ones) to sell to the bandwagon jumpers gets an instant spot on my "teams I don't like" list. I sure hope that doesn't become a trend in baseball.

I don't hate the Yankees, but I sort of hate the Red Sox because they stopped my Cleveland Indians from going to the World Series.

Only if George Steinbrenner buys the RED SOX too.

That guys and the way he does business is so outrageously offensive to baseball fans that there is no way a team with just a high payroll and a winning record could replace the Yankees.

I pretty much hate the Red Sox because of one person: Josh Beckett. I hate him because he has the face of a fat person, but he isnt fat. His necklaces and stuff he wears, come on ace, I wore that kind of junk in the 5th grade. Quit trying to act all surfer. Youre a pitcher on the BOSTON RED SOX.

The only person I like on Boston is Kevin Youkilis, guy is a monster. That goatee? Legendary.

I dont just hate the Sox becuase Im an Indians fan, I have hated them all my life. While most people grew up hating the Yankees, I grew up rooting for the Yankees as my second team and hating the Red Sox. Another thing about the Red Sox that pisses me off is how they call themselves the "Nation". OK, you have alot of fans, but dont brag about it. But the thing about "Red Sox Nation" that pisses me off is that its mostly just bandwagon and fair weather fans, who probably started to like the team after 04. Compare that to Chicago Cubs fans, who are probably baseballs best fans, and probably have more fans than the "Nation" but do they call themselves some ridiculous nickname? No. They just root for their team and have a good time. They dont have much to brag about, but do they care? Not at all, they just like baseball, unlike Sox fans, who just like winning. The only reason you dont get crap for having $150 million per year is because the Yankees have more. Unlike the Red Sox though, the Yankees have a storied and legendary past with tons of great players and have EARNED their $200 million payroll with 26 World Series Crowns. The Red Sox have what 7 or 8 (possibly 9 by tommorow night?). Eff the Sox. GO ROCKIES.

Cleveland Indians In 2008!

I think its kind of what black people refer to as "hater"....people are always dogging on someone or something that is successful cause in some way I think it makes them feel better for some reason. Im cool with rivalries, but I think its true that there were not as many Sox haters pre 2004...Im a Cleveland Indian fan btw & I dont hate the Sox cause but I started rooting against them when NY & Boston were having those good postseason matches several years ago & just sided with NY. I actually root for teams when they are successful, unless theres something unappealing about them, like the San Antonio Spurs or something. I think its fun to see these great teams perform, like Michaels Bulls, the Patriots of the past several years, Shaq & Kobe Lakers, etc...

I think it's pretty close now. I know a lot of people who aren't Sox or Yankees fans but hate the Sox more because of what they call "obnoxious fans" and a "good guy" concept that they think is inconsistent with reality.
