You have to work hard. Instead of getting discovered, I prefer to talk about POSITIONING yourself to be discovered.

Remember that luck is where opportunity meets preparation.

Or some say that,

The more prepared they are, the more luck they seem to have.

So what does that mean? It means start from the beginning. The beginning is starting with you yourself:
1) knowing yourself, your strengths and weaknesses and what is special about you that no one else or that few others have.
2) develop your creativity. That will become important to you down the road when it comes time for you to promote yourself as an actor.
3) Know EXACTLY what kind of actor you want to be.
4) Have a PLAN to get where you want to go and follow it.
5) Learn how to stay MOTIVATED. You will face rejection over an over an over again and you need to keep yourself up.
6) Learn some basic business skills. They make the difference between good actors, whose work never gets seen, because they don't know how to meet casting directors and agents and good actors who get work consistently.

Then, get some good training. Go to school. You can't be a great dancer unless you learn how to dance. You can't be a great musician, unless you learn how to play an instrument. To be a great actor, you need to train.

Have a look at this page link and the rest of the site. You might find some other things that will help you get started.

Good luck!

Well first of all you have to be an actress, which mean you have to be performing in plays. Then you need to take professional classes. Then you need to learn how to audition and interview with casting agents and talent agents. Then you need to do some carefully selected reading. Then you need to be in more plays and take more classes until you have an impressive enough resume to apply to talent agents for representation. Oh, and it would help to have a mentor during this process who would among other things keep you from getting ripped off by scams. This process takes a few years, but it works if you are talented.

Actually, very few if any actors get discovered any more, most just work their way up. For more infor read my profile and write me at my aol address.

Variety is the best advice. Get gigs in a variety of venues: talent shows, church performances (they do stuff like South Pacific), and other ones. Also take a variety of roles - comedy, drama, soap opera, or anything that you think you can do! Make friends with other actresses because if they like you they will gladly give you phone numbers of agents and promoters. Promoters are key. You pay them to get your photo and bio sent to different people who can get you acting jobs. Just do your research to find out who is legit and who isn't! Be patient with those you meet in the industry! If they say they're going to call you Monday and they end up calling you on Tuesday, don't be discouraged or upset. They're busy people. If you make lots of friends (in the industry) in LA you will be set. Buy a notebook and write down all of your contacts and keep detailed notes. I'd really suggest going to auditions for soap operas. If you have talent you might just find yourself as a regular character. Talent agents are always at these kinds of auditions. Hope that helps.

People always say that you need an impressive resume. And you really don't. As long as you have the talent you can go anywhere! the only thing on my resume is a school play. Thats IT!! and i've just been selected to host a kids tv show on the discovery channel :D
