i am 13 years old and people are always telling me how smart I am because I learned to read when I was 13 months old, and that I understood M-Theory when i was 7, stuff like that, Also I am really interested in science, but I've no desire to work in that field, I understand time travel and I have built small machines that can exceed my own running speed since i was about 9, what are the qualities of a person like Newton or some of those other really smart people? I need to know how old some of you people are, and how old you were when you started showing signs of being smart! And dont tell me I am the only one here who is under 30 and understands M-Theory because @ my school I have teachers that dont get it!

'Kay, that's a really weird question...

I don't think you can EVER say who's smart and who's not. For example, there's this mentally-disabled kid at my school who CANNOT concentrate in class, and he fails at English. But when you give him a math problem, he can always do it.

The following stuff is not meant to be rude, but maybe the things that you know and understand may never affect your life. Time travel is probably not something you'll be dealing with any time soon, considering the fact that you do not want to pursue a career in science. It's impossible to say if you're smart or not. Personally, if you showed up and my school and started explaining about time travel, you wouldn't be very popular and would probably be considered more crazy than smart...

Again, no offense to you, and congrats for knowing the M-Theory, i guess...

I'm 14, and people have always said I was smart since 3rd grade... even though I personally think I am just plain dumb. However, one reason they started calling me smart is that when I was in 3rd grade, I actually started getting letter grades, so parents could compare me with their kids...

You sound pretty smart for 13 years old to me.

Be thankful and enjoy the compliments, but always remember that no matter how smart your brain is, your heart is the same as those not so smart.

Be yourself, make lots of friends and just enjoy life and you will be loved by all!

wow!thats incredible!..well thats great news for you dear!you shouldn't be doubtfull if you are smart or not..because i think you are gifted..

yeah thats right..some people are gifted and yet they don't realise about it..its good news for you my dear..:)

you should be happy..because with this gift from god,you are able to help yourself in the future..like not to be cheated or tricked by others..use this gift from god..you should also be thankful to god for giving ou this gift which not every body has my dear..:)

your parents must be so proud of you..:)

but even though you are gifted, you still need to put that extra hardwork to be successful in your life..having just a gift is not something to be too proud of because that might make a lot of people to dislike you dear..just keep moving on.study hard and always keep in touch with your mummy and daddy and your loved ones..don't forget to thank them when you right on top dear..you have a nice day..

You sound very intelligent. It's one thing to understand M-theory, it's another thing to be able to improve on it or perhaps disprove it. I know many people who are knowledgeable about many things but can't figure-out how to get out of a wet paper bag. And I know others who don't even know the Moon circles the Earth but can build or fix just about anything. I know very, very few people who possess both qualities. The big difference seems to be desire.

I built a gun at 5 that shot rubber bands faster than my little brother could run. Claiming you understand M-theory is not enough. Please explain M-theory to me and I will tell you if you are smart.
