I'm trying to make an invisible zip and have redone it 5 times. The foot I'm using has no (tunnel), just a little indent on the side where the needle goes in and out.

Its a long time since I fitted an invisible zip but I think you use the normal foot for this. I think the zipper foot tends to make the join of the two fabrics billow out as you sew down the seam. I think the trick is to tack the zip in first. Ive been trying to find out the instructions for you in my vast book collection but with no success! I will have another look, I have a lot of books so it may take me a while! Best of luck!

Ive had a look on google and the foot then use is like an upside 'u' shape with a hole in the middle. If you dont have one of these try the normal foot. Im sure that was the one I used all those years ago!

I have just found a foot in the Jaycotts book,www.jaycotts.co.uk - telephone 0845 071 2228. The description reads 'sew concealed zips with the YKK roller zip foot. Its special rollers ease the zippers teeth to one side as it is stitched neatly into place. With 4 adapters to will fit most types of machine including Singer slant shank. Price £4.00. Ref. no. 57290. It might be worth checking that the foot will be suitable for your machine. I hope this information is of use to you.

A zipper foot should be the one that allows the needle to stitch as close to your zipper as possible. It's the same foot for invisible and regular zippers. Here are some instructrions for an invisible zipper.
