The problem with your kind of thinking is that it is a slippery slope to suicide. I mean, if you die anyway, why work hard. If you aren't going to work hard, you don't have anything to do and are bored. Why be bored for life? Since you already know that your are going to die, you might as well just take matters in your own hands and determine the time and place. In such a case, the only meaning you generate is the how, where, and when of your own self-termination.
In contrast, to live freely and fight each day to feel meaning is a much harder path, but it is one that is much more rewarding (or at least has the potential to be much more rewarding).

10 times a day or more often someone asks, "What is the purpose of life?" Then someone such as yourself finds the purpose under their nose and fails to see it. Work gives human life purpose. To do other than work, we would be lazy, unfed, unclothed, unhoused, uncivilized, but more than likely we would be an extinct species.

no one should ever have to "work so hard" in their life. of course we will all die. Live your life to the fullest, if you feel like you are working too hard, and you dont like it, quit. Life is too short to be stuck at a job you dont like doing. do something you want to do in life and then you will be happy and you wont work so hard.

There are many reasons. For one, to experience emotions. thats huge because if you've ever seen some people like hermits or stuck up military people who never felt something such as love, the're never going to be complete without that feeling so feelings are Huge. Also so you can get that feeling when your watching a really emotional movie and the person looks back at what they've done and get that special feeling, you get that too.

It's a matter of coming to terms and deciding you want to get the most outta your life. I'm sure you can tell extremely rich and accomplished people "you're going to die, you know" and they'd say "of course, but for now...!"
Equally puzzling to you must be the question "why do nothing with life just because you're going to die?"

You should work to live not live to work. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Because otherwise we would sit with nothing but our raw emotions which would drive us to the edge of humanity

This is a very old question to which philosophy and religion have provided their own answers, too many to review here.
